PRESS RELEASE
January 09, 2024 – Athens, GA – Market Research Institute International and the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education announce the addition of a new course to the suite of Principles Express on-demand courses: Measurement & Questionnaire Design. These industry-leading courses provide insights and market research professionals with the education and training necessary to elevate their careers and the industry.
“We believe that this new course is critical in light of the industry’s ongoing focus on data quality,” said Pamela Bracken, Department Head of Special Projects and Curriculum Development at the University of Georgia. “Questionnaire design has been proven to have a high impact on the quality of research results, and we are pleased to offer this as a standalone, on-demand course for market researchers seeking these important skills.”
The new Measurement & Questionnaire Design Principles Express course teaches participants how to write a quality survey using the primary scales of measurement. The course is designed using best practices to teach the multiple steps in designing a questionnaire and the proper guidelines.
Additional elements of the course include an exploration of the importance of choice in data collection and how to minimize potential source bias in the development stages. Scale evaluation and discussion on how to assess the reliability and validity of questionnaire design drive learning objectives for the course. Market researchers in every stage of their careers can benefit from this new addition to the Principle Express course line-up.
Stephanie C. Harris, Director of Global Strategic Insights at Visa, a Board Member of MRII and Chair of its Curriculum Committee said, “Measurement and questionnaire design influences the quality, reliability, and overall effectiveness of the data collected. These are critical foundational skills for market researchers allowing them to effectively capture the data needed to make informed business decisions and gain insights into consumer behavior across diverse and dynamic markets.”
Principles Express courses, which are offered online and on-demand to industry professionals around the world, are developed by industry experts who ensure rigor, and are designed for market researchers who need to get up to learn the foundational skills and knowledge about a key research subject. Each course is self-paced and self-study and can be completed in a matter of days.
Ed Keller, executive director of MRII, said, “We are excited to be launching this new course. Questionnaire Design was our most popular webinar in 2023, part of the monthly series that we offer, so we know there is a hunger for research professionals to learn about this critical phase in the research process. In today’s rapidly changing market research landscape, it’s vital that research professionals are grounded in the fundamentals needed to deliver high quality, high impact research. Quality is our industry’s bedrock, and this new course in our industry-leading curriculum will provide much needed and valuable training to help insights professionals expand their skill set about this essential phase of the research process.”
