The Marketing Research Institute International (MRII) is proud to announce Ankita Rebello as the winner of the 2026 Reg Baker Career Advancement Award. This year’s recipient stands out not only for a deep technical background in data analytics but for an inspiring story of resilience, volunteerism, and a commitment to “Career 2.0” in the United States.
The MRII Reg Baker Award was established to honor the memory of Reg Baker, a global leader in market research and former MRII Executive Director. Reg was a tireless advocate for lifelong learning, and this award continues his legacy by providing the winner with enrollment in the esteemed Principles of Market Research certification course, delivered in partnership with the University of Georgia. We thank our award sponsor, Escalent, for their support to allow us to offer this comprehensive curriculum to Ankita.

A Journey of Resilience and “Career 2.0”
Ankita comes to the insights industry with 14 years of experience in Data Analytics and Collections Operations, much of it spent with GE Capital in India. After moving to the United States on a spousal visa with work restrictions, Ankita faced the challenge of rebuilding a professional identity from scratch.
“I bring a lived experience shaped by cultural diversity, immigration challenges, and the mindset of rebuilding from scratch,” she shared. “These perspectives add empathy, grit, and adaptability to my work.”
To maintain professional continuity while awaiting work authorization, Ankita turned to high-impact volunteerism. Over the past six years, she’s contributed more than 5,000 volunteer hours to the American Red Cross (ARC) and Catchafire. What began as a way to give back evolved into a deep-seated passion for market research.
Transforming Data into Mission-Driven Insights
While volunteering with the CMO’s office at the American Red Cross, Ankita managed complex quantitative analysis projects that directly impacted fundraising and volunteer services. From designing surveys to understand donor loyalty to analyzing volunteer behavior across different age groups, she has already demonstrated the power of insights in the nonprofit sector.
“My background in data and analytics closely aligns with market research, enabling me to generate meaningful insights,” she noted. “I am now focused on deepening my expertise in Market Research (MRX) and continuing to grow in this field.”
Looking ahead five to ten years, she envisions a leadership role in the nonprofit sector, utilizing a human-centered approach to solve complex social challenges.
Honoring the Legacy of Reg Baker
The Reg Baker Award is more than a scholarship; it is a recognition of the persistence required to excel in the evolving world of insights.
Ed Keller, Executive Director of MRII, shared his thoughts on this year’s selection:
